Islington Town Hall Wedding Guide.

The Iconic Islington Town Hall Wedding Venue.

The Iconic Islington Town Hall Wedding Venue.

I have photographed this venue many times before and it is without doubt one of my favourite locations to shoot. Classical in appearance, this 1920’s gem of a venue is located on the very fashionable Upper Street.

The marbled staircase and halls along with elegant rooms provide a magical setting and the grand façade located in the trendy area provide a host of photographic opportunities on your special day.

Ceremony Rooms

The Council Chamber

The Council Chamber lies at the top of the impressive marbled staircase and is the largest of the room in terms of seating. Despite the size and capacity of this grand space, the room retains the sense of intimacy due to the horseshoe seating arrangement meaning that guests are never more than 5 rows away from the couple's special moment. It is airy and light with a vaulted ceiling and stained glass windows. A firm favourite of mine as there is plenty of room for a photographer to move around. Capacity pre-covid in this room was 100 guests seated in the main room with a further 60 seated upstairs in the balcony.

*Current Covid-19 Capacity*

See below for numbers allowed in the Council Chamber for each step, based on public health guidance, risk assessments and government regulations.

Step 4: 50 people*

* This number includes the couple, witnesses/guests of any age, including children and babies. The registrars and one professional photographer do not count toward this number.

Room 99

Room 99 is a high ceilinged and recently refurbished airy room and is very popular at the Town Hall for couples that require a minimal ceremony. The colour scheme is red and gold with permanent floral displays and beautiful chandeliers, Room 99 provides a simple yet elegant setting to any ceremony. Large windows provide ample natural light and air-conditioning is available during the summer months. Time is more restricted in Room 99, with just the legal ceremony allowed. There is no time for extra readings, bespoke vows or even separate registrar interviews and walk-in. The cheaper pricing structure reflects this and, as a result, the room has a higher turnover of weddings. Capacity pre-covid in this room was 28 guests seated.

*Current Covid-19 Capacity*

See below for numbers allowed in each of our ceremony rooms for each step, based on public health guidance, risk assessments and government regulations.

Step 4: 12 people*

* This number includes the couple, and witnesses/guests of any age, including children and babies. The registrars and one professional photographer do not count toward this number.

Photography opportunities in and around the town hall.

From the marbled staircase and halls, the beautiful entrance steps and the upmarket and trendy surrounding area. Islington Town hall has some wonderful spots for all the before and after ceremony images. Weekends tend to be busier then week days and I use my experience to try to keep waiting times to a minimal on the day. If weddings are running late on the day I may ask the happy couple to get a few shots before the ceremony which gives us time for you to be a little more comfortable with me shooting you and avoids a bottle neck of couples wanting to get a shot.

Please see below a selection of my favourite images before and after the ceremony.
